Civic Functions

Toastmaster with a Mayor and Soldier

There are a wide variety of civic functions at which a toastmaster can officiate. It could be at the local Town Hall with the Mayor of the Town or Borough; or if in London, it could be with the Lord Mayor at the Guildhall or at Mansion House, two of London's most historical and prestigious venues.

Whatever the function, wherever the venue, whoever the dignitaries present, a Fellow of the Guild of Professional Toastmasters, fully experienced in civic events will ensure the occasion flows smoothly, successfully and in accordance with the correct civic protocol.

In the City of London, it is traditional for the Toastmaster to wear a different style of livery. The black tail-coat with the red and white sash replaces the more familiar red tail-coat. This tradition goes back hundreds of years.
